Always Under Construction

Posted by Devon Shows on

Anywhere you drive in Houston, you see all sorts of construction equipment: excavators, bulldozers, graders, mixers, and cranes. These larger-than-life machines are fascinating, moving huge amounts of dirt, crushing concrete effortlessly and creating smooth, open space to build on.

I wonder why?

What was there before?

What are they building now?

All questions we asked as kids from the backseat as we passed by and questions we still ask as adults, each time our eyes are drawn to the side of the road to watch something new being built little by little, one day at a time.

I think that is what we love most about LEGO play. Life is always under construction and when you work with LEGO pieces you remember that you are the master builder. Your imagination leads the way.

A recent post  by BigRentz.com that features a free LEGO building challenge for kids shares that,

“Construction is important for kids because it can teach them to problem solve, connect, understand, and be inquisitive in both learning and their play. They actively learn to engage their imagination and experiment with new concepts, while learning about the role of builders in our world and picking up new skills they can also use in other areas of study. Furthermore, by incorporating building activities early on, you can help kids expand their imaginations and learn about all the possible things they can be when they grow up, including STEM jobs like construction workers, architects, and engineers. This is crucial for creating a new generation who can develop the world around us.”

With each LEGO piece and part, you can build a work of art…

And to prove just that, we’d like to support the announcement that the award-winning Awesome Exhibition is coming to Houston!

From October 29th – December 30th at George R. Brown Convention Center The Interactive Exhibition of LEGO® Models created by LEGO® Certified Professional Ryan “The Brickman” McNaught will feature 30 displays made entirely of LEGO® bricks in four themed, immersive experience rooms. Guests can also visit interactive zones to build their own creations. Children 2 and under are free. Customers of Bricks & Minifigs can even save 15% on their tickets using the discount code FIGSLEGO!

And before or after you go, come visit us here at Bricks and Minifigs Pearland   to purchase LEGO parts for your next LEGO building construction challenge. We are located in Pearland Town Center at 11200 Broadway St, Suite 710, Pearland, TX 77584 across the street and down the sidewalk from Barnes & Nobles and are open Monday through Saturday 11 AM - 7PM and Sunday Noon to 6PM.

We have used LEGO sets, new-in-box LEGO sets, Minifigs, and bulk LEGO pieces for all builders alike to explore.

Our LEGO Technic sets, perfect for kids ages 6 and up, feature functioning gearboxes, wheels and axles. The process of assembly helps us understand how construction vehicles, planes, and motorbikes propel. Sets can be enhanced with a free app called CONTROL+ that can interact with specific LEGO Technic remote-control toys to add movement and sound. The app even offers LEGO building challenges!

You can check out our LEGO construction sets available online, or in store.
